Statement on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Fuck AI. No, seriously. Fuck AI. That’s it. That’s the statement.

Okay. Perhaps there’s a little more to say.

There is no ethical use of AI in the arts. The tools commonly referred to as AI, such as Large Language Models (LLM) and image-generating applications, were trained on stolen works and are antithetical to what it means to be an author or an artist. Using them is theft (and horrific for the environment), and what they spew-out is slop; a poor imitation of human creativity based on mimicry and statistical probability.

No AI was used in the conceptualization, research, drafting, or editing of any of my stories. Any errors, similes, metaphors, literary devices, or punctuation marks are mine and mine alone. Including the em-dashes. LOTS AND LOTS OF EM-DASHES. I use them because I like them; my thoughts have inner thoughts. Deal with it.

Now go support human authors and artists!
